UF EDGE staff are assisted in our work by the UF EDGE Faculty Advisory Board. The Faculty Advisory board helps improve UF EDGE programs and enhance the UF EDGE teaching experience.

Members for the AY 2005-2006 are:

  1. Cammy Abernathy : Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
  2. Mary Bonhomme : Director UF EDGE Program
  3. Ralph Ellis : Civil Engineering
  4. Robert Fox : Electrical & Computer Engineering
  5. James Klausner : Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering
  6. Ben Koopman : Environmental Engineering Sciences
  7. John Mecholsky : Materials Science & Engineering
  8. Edwin Romeijn : Industrial & Systems Engineering
  9. Beverly Sanders : Computer & Information Sicence & Engineering

The purpose of the UF EDGE faculty advisory committee is:

  1. Provides scheduling information to UF EDGE administration and staff on course offerings for non-thesis master's degrees available through UF EDGE.
  2. Provides advice on the development of policy and procedures for UF EDGE operations.
  3. Provides follow-up and communication of such policies and procedures to College of Engineering faculty.
  4. Assists in marketing degree programs available through UF EDGE.
  5. Provides a forum for communication to and from faculty on topics related to distance learning.
  6. Advises the UF EDGE Director with regard to the academic distance learning needs and priorities of faculty and students, and the service and support that each of these users need.
  7. Provides input to and feedback on the UF EDGE's strategic plan through review of the plan and contribution to the completion of applicable sections of the plan.
  8. Provides input to and feedback to the Associate Dean, College of Engineering on prioritization and resources needed to further advance distance learning as well as other technology-enhanced learning opportunities, whether conducted on or off campus.
  9. Provides leadership and support for cooperative efforts on shared opportunities and problems with the distance learning arena.
  10. Meets monthly or as needed, and makes its minutes and recommendations available to the university community.

The voting members of the committee include one representative from each department of the College of Engineering. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the College of Engineering serves as an ex-officio member. The advisory board is chaired by the UF EDGE Director. Representatives may also be named from areas such as the Registrar, Admissions, and Graduate Admissions. Terms of the voting members are for three years. Each year, some terms expire and reappointments are sought using the membership criteria established.
